This remarkable institution is changing lives and brightening futures in an impoverished neighborhood, and we are proud to be a part of their journey.

The Story of Chepinitas School

 

Chepinitas School is a beacon of hope for the underprivileged children of Veracruz. Most of these young students could not afford public school tuition, and many had never set foot in a classroom before finding their way to Chepinitas. Today there are forty-three young people enrolled in classes spanning from kindergarten to the 12th grade, guided by a dedicated team of seven teachers.

Linda Lager, the founder of Chepinitas, and her husband, Steve, are longtime friends of the Olson family and agency. The team at Olson is grateful to know them. The story of Chepinitas is truly one of passion and purpose. Linda’s deep connection to Veracruz, where her mother was born and raised, led her to discover a profound need among the children in the community. While escaping the cold Chicago winter to visit family, Linda was deeply moved by the lack of educational opportunities available to the poorest of the poor in Veracruz. Determined to make a difference, Linda founded the school in the spring of 2015. Chepinitas School is a place where dreams are nurtured, and futures are built. Linda, a talented violin teacher, spends her spare time driving for Lyft to help fund the school, demonstrating her great commitment to the cause.
